Vermont Apple Orchard Wedding - Erica & Spaulding

I have quite a few weddings from last year that still haven't made it to the blog, but it's just because a lot of my clients like a private first look at their images before I share them with the rest of the world. So here's Erica & Spaulding's beautiful apple orchard wedding that I had the joy of capturing last year! Kristin & Will: A Scottish New Hampshire Wedding

In the lovely hills of New Hampshire, land of the motto "Live Free or Die", rests the quaint Grand View Inn & Resort with a sprawling view of Mt. Monadnock. It was spring and the magnolias and apple blossoms smelled as sweet as they looked. Family members pitched in putting the final touches on the handtied bouquets and handmade decor. The weather was delightfully warm and sunny- a perfect day for the groom & groomsmen to wear traditional formal kilts with all the extras. The bride looked stunning in her birdcage veil, handmade wedding clogs, and custom Heather Wang Jewelry. Guests arrived from near and far as Aaron Denny played guitar, and those who couldn't were able to attend virtually with the modern technology of a laptop webcam with wireless internet. After the ceremony, the bride & groom were surprised by the gift of a Scottish Bagpiper playing for their exit! The guests enjoyed fabulous local foods, sipped drinks under the stars, and danced the night away. Click play below to see their entire wedding day slideshow:

Sharyn & Matt's Wedding

Sharyn & Matt are amazing people. I tried to come up with some clever analogy to somehow describe why they are so amazing, but everything just seemed to fall short of being an accurate summation of their amazingness. Let me put it this way... these are the kind of people who change the world, for the better. Now that I've completely built them up, let me show you just how cool, humble, and down to earth their wedding was and why I have such a crush on them...

The day started off with Matt getting ready with his family at a nearby hotel while Sharyn got ready with at home with the help of her mom. The bookshelf gives you a sneak peek into this couple's brilliance and sense of humor. ;-)





They decided to have their ceremony at the Netherlands Carillon in Washington, DC, which is also in the same park as the Iwo Jima / Marine Corps War Memorial, where Sharyn's family laid flowers in honor of Sharyn's father, and where Matt & Sharyn saw each other for the first time on their wedding day...



From the memorial, they casually walked together to their guests where two small rows of chairs and a table with coffee were the simple makings of their ceremony site that overlooked the District of Columbia...







One of the things that Matt & Sharyn had mentioned was how happy everyone seemed in my photos. They feared that they might not look as outwardly happy as the other people they had seen, so they practiced a fake-laugh just in case... which ended up making ME laugh more than anything!


Sharyn's bright orange Kate Spades were picking up leaves as we walked back through the park...

Matt navigated us through some construction traffic and a back alley as we made our way to the Tabard Inn, where a lovely and intimate brunch was served for the close family members who attended the ceremony...






After brunch, there was a bit of down time that allowed everyone to get into more formal attire for a larger evening reception at the fabulously retro Clarendon Ballroom. To set the mood, The Grandsons were on hand to play some of their signature tunes, such as Party With The Rich, and Hip Replacement. You've gotta check out their album on iTunes to hear their curiously quirky lyrics and rockabilly tunes. After hearing them at the reception, I bought their album from iTunes as soon as I got home!


Orange and red were the colors du jour and I just love the many ways in which it played out, even down to the selection of bottled water and the mashed sweet potatoes! Also, if you look closely, you can see their fabulous Ann Wood Handmade Bird toppers dressed to look just like Sharyn & Matt!


Now THIS is their REAL laugh, genuinely captured during an entertaining toast...


Look at them tear up that dance floor!


What I love most about Sharyn & Matt's wedding is that while they certainly had a fabulous day with oodles of unique style, it was never about the "things"... it was always about the people they loved and were celebrating with, and that's just one reason why I think they're amazing.


Matt & Sharyn, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for inviting me to share such a special day with you!! I consider you good friends and hope you always stay in touch!!

Jessica & Ben's Wedding

What do you get when you combine an organic creamery and two people in love? Jessica & Ben's wedding!


I believe that Jessica & Ben are the FIRST couple to be married at Trader's Point Creamery in Zionsville, IN! With its rolling hills, pastural views, intimate loft, and DELICIOUS local and organic foods, what's not to love?!



The girls started their day off at the salon, getting their hair done, with makeup to follow at Ben's family home...




The first thing I saw when I walked into the house was this huge white plastic bag hanging from the second floor railing, with a note...



Once everyone was ready to go, Jessica and Ben saw each other for the first time in the hallway..


Before the guests arrived, the family members and wedding party gathered for some casual portraits, several of which included the local fauna, who wanted to be a part of the action...



The details were absolutely beautiful, from the autumn colored bouquets, to the handmade yamakas and ketubah, to the leaf placecards that coordinated with each table and the half floral, half edible centerpieces...


The weather had threatened rain all week long, so a tent was prepared just in case. However, what was supposed to be rain, ended up being a sunny 85ºf+ day! Instead of holding off the rain, the tent helped shade the guests from the heat of the sun!





After the ceremony was a beautiful cocktail hour where Jessica & Ben were able to mingle with guests while they were enjoying appetizers of local in-season foods, and cool drinks before heading into the Creamery loft for dinner...

The harp and flute provided light sounds for the dinner hour... but they also had a few tricks up their sleeves with some unexpected rock tunes thrown in like Stairway to Heaven. My husband would love this picture... mainly because of all the cheese stored in the background!


I guess Jessica had seen a picture of a dog made out of mums somewhere and decided she just had to have one! I've definitely never seen anything like this before! Neither had the florist!


Ben's brother gave a great speech about how Ben has become a more loving person since meeting Jessica, it was really sweet...



Where's the dance floor you ask? Why- there wasn't one! It was just a wonderfully intimate dinner and dessert with good friends and family...



Jessica & Ben - thank you so much for letting me capture your wedding day!! I hope you continue to improve each other's lives every day!! Oh yes, and I think you win the award for the most "Green Wedding" so far!!!
