The New 'Do
posted on: October 17, 2007
Thank you again to everyone who helped me find a new look for my neglected head of hair!! It felt a little like I was on a mini-episode of "How Do I Look?" (which, in all honesty, probably wouldn't be a bad idea for me!) I went to my local Aveda salon, which is Rave Salon & Spa in Terre Haute. What's wonderful about Aveda salons is their commitment to the environment and use of all-natural ingredients in their products.
So, if you're looking for one more way to "go green" try finding an Aveda salon near you.
I'm not sure if this is the case at every Aveda salon, but the experience at Rave was the best salon experience I've ever had! It started with a neck and shoulder aromatherapy massage, followed by a complimentary hand massage while foils were going in, and while my highlights were setting- a foot soak and foot massage, and last but not least a scalp massage during shampoo! I had no idea that getting a haircut and highlights could be so relaxing!!! THANK YOU Danielle, Perry, Joshua, and everyone else who helped out, checked in on me, and offered drinks and comfort. I can't say enough great things about this salon, it definitely makes me want to go back more frequently than every six months!! I could go on and on... but I'm guessing you want to see the results, right?!?! ;-)
First off, keep in mind - I'm NOT Mandy Moore. I have fine/thin hair so it lays very differently than Mandy's. Danielle also recommended that I go with a longer bang that would work better with my face and fine hair. So we came as close as possible with what I had to work with. It's hard to see all of the layers in the photos below, but I promise you, there are a LOT of them!
You know how you see those before & after pictures where the after has all kinds of extra make-up and touch-up work done to it? Well, I'm going to give it to you straight-up, no fluff...
What do you think?! Does it work? Does it suit me? The next challenge will be to see what I can attempt to create on my own without the help of the fabulous stylists!! Thank you for following along with me on my mini-adventure, this was so much fun!!

ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how great an awesome haircut can make us feel? You're beaming and that shines through more than the cut itself! The cut is fabulous, by the way and I absolutely LOVE the coloring!
ReplyDeletePerfect - you look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLooks like it will be easy to maintain, too.

ReplyDeleteLike I said over on Flickr - super cute!! Love the color too. Rock on!
ReplyDeleteAwww... thank you!! You make me feel so special! I think it looks a lot more red than it actually is- which must be the combination of bad white balance and super shiny hair. We just did highlights, no overall color, but I love it!!

Also... what a small world.
That's Josh Tanner fixing your hair.... he's the absolute best stylist in Terre Haute (he was the ONLY person I would allow to cut my hair while I was living there) ANNNND... I actually designed AND installed the RAVE logo. :) It's one of my favorites!
I adore the new 'do! I think it makes your eyes look AWESOME!! Good job!

Awesome!!!!! Your new 'do really does it! Yay!
ReplyDeleteit's great anne!!! i love it!
ReplyDeletei love the new 'do! The highlights are awesome! You should post some pictures to show how you experiment with it!
ReplyDeleteLooks good! If you wrap the hair every night - the 'do should last two weeks.
ReplyDeletesoo pretty! I love the colors. All my aveda experiences have been like that - love the aromatherapy massage! The only thing better is a haircut in Japan. They do an even BETTER massage, if you can imagine that, and they'll interupt your haircut to massage you more if your hair isn't sitting right... guess you have to be good and relaxed for a good haircut! Enna
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! SO GLAD YOU did this! It looks so good and I love your photos too!!!
