Joanna & George Engagement
posted on: September 28, 2006
Joanna & George are so adorable! They both have incredibly infectious smiles and warm laughs, I could have spent all day with them!! They wanted to do their engagement session at Cranbrook, which has amazing scenery no matter where you look. I started getting a little sentimental about the property and what I knew from studying the local history and practially gave them a guided tour of the place! Cranbrook is one of those places that you could visit time and time again and always find something new to discover. I have to admit I'm kinda jealous of the photographer who gets to shoot their wedding.. if they are this haut now, can you image what they'll look like on their wedding day?! Joanna & George - if you need a personal photographer the next time you visit Greece, you know who to call! ;-) I'm sorry there are so many pictures, I just couldn't decide!!
I only posted one kissing shot this time! Aren't you proud of me?

Sarah & Shannon's Wedding
posted on: September 27, 2006
When Sarah & Shannon look at each other, it's as if they melt into a completely different world together. Their wedding was full of elegance and charm with a touch of whimsical which transported their guests to a different time and place. The English Inn in Eaton Rapids, MI set the stage with beautiful scenery; even the basement bar has a certain worldly charm.
One of Sarah's requests when we met was to achieve a fine art feeling for her wedding images. Usually fine art involves quite a bit of posing and directing. However, since I like to work as candidly as possible in order to capture people as they naturally are, I'm always thrilled when a fine art image appears before my eyes in completely candid moments.
The harpist did a beautiful job and the weather was simply perfect for the ceremony!
Who can resist happy babies?
There's a lot of special meaning and importance in this next image. Just thinking about what it means and how amazing it is that it happened naturally gets me all verklempt.
Of course, everyone wants to see your bling!
The bustle is often the bridesmaid's biggest challenge on the wedding day. Finding the ribbons is often the hardest part!
Check out the butterflies!
Dress blues and peonies.
Look at them swing on the dance floor! I absolutely loved the accordian fold underlay in this dress!!
Shannon was the master dipper-kisser!! I have so many pictures of him dipping and kissing Sarah throughout the day!! I think it totally goes with the music that Sarah picked for her first dance and the slideshow.
Congratulations Sarah & Shannon!! I hope this day is only the beginning of many more happily ever afters....

Candice & Joe's Wedding
posted on: September 19, 2006
I am so crazy about this couple and their wedding!! Candice & Joe were totally unconventional, which made everything incredibly personal and special. They wanted completely candid photography with only one large group pose, giving me creative freedom to be in the moment and capture all of the little details that made their day unique. I could barely contain myself with all of the fun and unique details!! Candice's veil, dress, shrug, bridesmaid dresses, and I think even the groomsmen's vests were made by Candice's mom! Talk about a superwoman!!
How adorable are these little guys waiting for the ceremony to begin??
I really love outdoor ceremonies. There's always a risk, and it's good to have a back-up plan, but 85% of the time it totally works out and looks absolutely beautiful!!
No cake here!!! Just yummy, yummy desserts and the best beer in the entire world, made right in Michigan. ;-)
Candice & Joe had a great group of friends who loved practical jokes, and not so practical ones! Apparently Candice & Joe were both in quiz bowl together and wickedly good, so their friends put them to the test complete with REAL quizbowl buzzers and lights!!! I won't say who won this round.... but someone needs to work on their spelling! ;-) Apparently, a little bird in one of the centerpieces was subjected to a bit of friendly wrath as well... luckily they used electronic tea lights to subdue any pyromania tendencies.
I have way too many favorites when it comes to dancing pictures. You'll just have to click on an image to watch the slideshow and see more of them!! AND, you'll get to hear Candice & Joe's awesome selection for a first dance song!!
I love, love, love, love, LOVE photographing in the dark with available light. There's just a romantic and fantastical quality about images captured in this way. I'm so grateful that I was the one Candice & Joe picked to be their wedding photographer. They are just amazing people and I know that there are many years of bliss ahead of them!!

Danielle & Brian's Wedding
posted on: September 12, 2006
What a fun group of people! Usually I only get to hang out with the ladies for the getting ready moments but this time I had the privilege of hanging out with the guys before the ceremony and captured some awesome shots. Getting ready moments are my favorite part of the wedding day because I feel like I have the most freedom to be creative with candid images. I absolutely love these shots... inspired by Quentin Tarantino, and if you're up for a challenge take a guess at the movies and scenes they were inspired by....
I think I also love the getting ready moments because it's one of the last chances I get to be really close to the bride & groom without getting in the way of anyone who wants to spend time with them, and it allows me to get some great detail shots.
Plus, the anticipation and nervousness before the ceremony make for great emotional moments with family and friends, and genuine moments like these are what I absolutely live for when I photograph weddings.... man I love this job!
Their ceremony was held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Shelby Twp, MI. What a beautiful place to photograph a wedding! The natural skylights and freedom to move around allowed me to get great ceremony shots. I wonder what Danielle was thinking in that second shot....
After the ceremony, we headed to the beautiful Heritage Gardens for a few shots with the wedding party. While I don't mind creating portraits, my favorite images are definitely the ones that happen in-between the set-up shots!
By the time we got to the reception at Creek Center in Armada, MI, everyone was ready to party! Can you imagine what these twins will be like when they're teenagers?!
I think the guests had a lot of fun with the polaroid guestbook, and Danielle & Brian ended up with an instant scrapbook!
Check out the hot pink frosting on their cake!
There are so many more great images, but I'm afraid you'll just have to watch the slideshow by clicking on any image to see the rest! Congratulations Danielle & Brian!
